Latma Garuda Shield merupakan program latihan bersama antara TNI AD dengan US Army. Tahun ini merupakan program Latma Garuda Shield yang ke-15 adapun materi yang akan digelar meliputi : Staf Exercise (Geladi Posko Staf S1 sd S5) Field Training Exercise, Live Fire Exercise, Medevac, Aviation Airborn, Special Operation, Each Landing. Sedang dari Yonkes I Kostrad akan menggelar latihan penata laksanaan Kegawat Daruratan, Penanganan Heat Stroke, POL
Kakesdam XIII/Merdeka Kolonel Ckm dr. Ponco Darmono,Sp.B sebagai penanggungjawab Dukkes menyampaikan bahwa Kesdam XIII/Merdeka adalah Balak Kodam XIII/Merdeka salah satu tugas pokok sebagai penyelenggara dukungan kesehatan di wilayah Kodam XIII/Merdeka, dan telah mendapat perintah dari Komando atas agar mendukung kegiatan Latma Garuda Shield ke -15 Tahun 2021
Lebih lanjut Kolonel Ckm dr. Ponco Darmono,Sp.B menyampaikan untuk mendukung kegiatan tersebut telah menyiapkan tim dukungan kesehatan (Dukkes) yang dipimpin Dandenkeslap 13.03.01 Kesdam XIII/Merdeka Letnan Kolonel Yusuf Kumesan, SKM, M.Kes, yang dilengkapi dengan Ambulance, tim Food Sec, tim evakuasi dan hospitalisasi dan menyiapkan Rumah Sakit TNI AD maupun RS Pemerintah/Swasta sebagai rumah sakit rujukan, tim PCR untuk pemeriksaan swab antigen serta menyiapkan fasilitas ruang isolasi apabila ditemukan kasus PCR postif.
Sebelum melaksanakan dukungan kesehatan pada kegiatan Latma Garuda Shield ke-15 TA 2021, Tim yang tergabung dalam Dukkes sudah melaksanakan tinjau medan agar memahami kondisi medan sesungguhnya, sehingga nantinya dalam pemberian dukungan Kesehatan, terwujud Dukkes yang handal.
Setiap tim Kesehatan yang sudah disiapkan harus didampingi seorang dokter dan dilaksanakan latihan phisik dan Skill untuk meningkat kemampuan dan menyamakan persepsi didalam setiap menangani permasalahan dilapangan.
Tim PCR untuk pemeriksa Swab antigen dan yang bertugas diruang Isolasi adalah dokter dan perawat yang tergabung tim Vaksinator Faskes jajaran Kesdam XIII/Merdeka yang sudah terlatih,
